Quick Start Guide
The 3-page Quick Start Guide for StudyMate Class Server is all most instructors need to get up-and-running. The appendix section includes several "Teaching Scenarios" with specific suggestions on how to integrate it into courses.
Pricing and the Free "Lite" Version
StudyMate Class Server is currently available as a free 3-month pilot license. Then, institutions have the choice of purchasing a license for StudyMate Class Server (see price list), or being switched to the free "Lite" version of the software (see comparison of features). The Lite and standard versions of StudyMate Class Server use the same Building Block or PowerLink connector, so no reinstallation is required for institutions wanting to continue with the Lite version.
StudyMate Author Included
Institutions that purchase a license for StudyMate Class Server will also receive a campus-wide license for StudyMate Author. StudyMate Author is a client-based version of StudyMate that lets instructors work offline and create even more powerful Flash-based games and learning activities. It’s easy to import questions and glossaries from MS Word or publisher test banks with StudyMate Author, and then publish the Flash activities directly to an online course. Items from StudyMate Author can also be exported in a format that is usable with StudyMate Class Server. Two powerful tools, all for the price of one.
Installation and Licensing
A free 3-month pilot license for StudyMate Class Server is available to institutions running the Blackboard Learning System (Enterprise 6.3+, Vista 4.0+, CE 6.0+). The service is hosted on a Respondus server, but requires that a Blackboard Building Block or PowerLink be installed to the institution's Blackboard server. When the pilot program period is over, institutions can either purchase a license for StudyMate Class Server or continue using the "Lite" version for free (see above). To participate in a pilot program, the license administrator of your institution's Blackboard Learning System should fill out and return the StudyMate Class Server License Agreement.
